Caspar Peter Bügel owned several large mansions in Copenhagen, and he had six ships sailing the world’s oceans. The purchase of Ringsted Kloster was an investment. His eldest son, who was to take over the business, was just as good at spending money as his father was at earning it. Therefore, on March 9, 1815, Caspar Peter Bügel established a fideikommiss (family trust) on the estate. This was done to secure the fortune for the benefit of the entire family. Caspar Peter Bügel died in 1817 and was not interred in the burial mound until 1820.
